911 Delivered to the RNZAF as NZ6001, it was discovered the registration had already belonged to a Gloster Meteor.
The serial number was changed to NZ6010 in August 1959.
Purchased in 1956 for use in the Antarctic it arrived in New Zealand near the end of July that year.
The aircraft was assembled at Hobsonville and flew south arriving at Wigram on the 11th of August.
Named "City of Auckland" in December 1956 at a ceremony held at Ardmore.
Shipped to the Antarctic on HMNZS Endeavour in December 1956,
It was used in the Antarctic in 1957, first flying there on 13 January of that year, and 1958.
Flown back to New Zealand in Globemaster 52-955 during October 1958.
The aircraft headed south again on board the "USS Atka" and arrived at Scott Base on the 17 December 1959.
Written off in an accident on the Beardsmore Glacier in whiteout conditions at 3 pm on 15 January 1960.
Two crew unhurt but not rescued until 20 January by Auster NZ1707.
Currently a DHC.2, registered ZK-CKH and owned by a New Zealand Warbirds syndicate, is flown in the colours of NZ6010 when it wore the serial NZ6001.
